I've been thinking about this lately. We are all so caught up with metrics, reducing the number of clicks, and with many new designers joining this industry, everything to me feels like that scene in the movie Fight Club. Everything feels like a copy of a copy of a copy and I don't want that. My background is in Graphic Design, but I've been doing digital design my whole career. If you want to be better at design, don't study UI. Go watch a documentary on typography, go to a museum, read magazines and do anything besides going to dribbble and looking at the same boring-copy-of-a-copy designs.
