Last week, I had a conversation with one of my designer friends. We’ve been working together daily for about a year and a half now. He’s a young designer with just over four years of experience, and it’s been amazing to see his growth and evolution day by day.
I asked him, “After all this time working together, do you feel like you’ve grown as a designer?” And to my surprise, he didn’t say things like “Oh yeah, I’m much better at Figma now” or “I’ve mastered Framer.”
His answer was: “I think I’ve developed my soft skills more than my hard skills. I’m much better at explaining ideas, defending my designs, and asking the right questions in a project.”
And I think he’s right.
We’re often so focused on learning how to design things that we forget how valuable soft skills are. They’re just as important, and sometimes even more. 😉
(Keep going Matheus!)
