Why is being weird cool? Let me tell you why.

I wasn't a normal kid.

Growing up, I watched a bunch of anime and tokusatsu on TV, and my dream was to be one of the knights from Saint Seiya.

Back in the '90s, the word "nerd" was not something cool. If you got called that, oh boy, you were in for a world of pain and bullying. I did try to fit in with the other kids in my classroom, but it simply wasn’t me. I vividly remember my friends inviting me to hang out, and me saying no because I wanted to stay home and watch old movies.

In college, my favorite cable channel was Telecine Cult.
All those old weird movies? They were my jam!

Obscure Japanese movies?

I’ve shared the story of the kid who stole my skateboard a bunch of times, and that’s part of what makes me interesting.

In the design industry, being weird is a good thing.
We all have our likes and dislikes, so it’s amazing to see how your personality shapes your work.

I think that’s it for now. Go be weird, and thank me later.
