Business-wise, why is it important to have a design system? It's not only to make things consistent, keep things pretty, and make it easier to use; the main goal is to cut costs. Why? Well, with a proper and structured design system, you will no longer: • Have a mess of components all over the place • Designers won't have to waste time trying to find the latest components to use • Designers will build things faster • Developers won't have to code everything from scratch or rely on shady UI libraries It all comes down to how fast you can ship things, and how, with more time = more money is spent. Leadership doesn't care about design just for the sake of design.
